20th May 2018: Preparations Underway in Douala

 The second evaluation meeting presided at by the Littoral Governor took place on Tuesday.

Preparations towards the 46th edition of the national day celebrations have reached fever peach in Douala with march past rehearsals and meetings taking place. The second preparatory meeting at the regional level took place on Tuesday May 8, presided by the Governor of the Littoral Region. It came out from the reports of the various committees that preparations were well advanced and just waiting for the D-day to set the ball rolling.

The celebrations in Douala will span one week beginning from Saturday 12 with a unity march through the major alleys of the economic capital. This will be followed by the day of national colours on Monday May 14 which will consist of hoisting the national flag and raising the flag in unison at the same time throughout the city of Douala so as to create an impact on the population.

There will also be a special day for social, cultural and sporting activities for the military as well as the display of military artefacts in an exhibition christened “souvenirs de l’armée”. On May 18, there will be the general march past rehearsal.

From May 15th to 20th, a ‘unity village will be set up at the CPDM party house in Bonanjo where there will be cultural activities like theatre, singing, storytelli...
