As the team finalises preparations, the objective to reach the knock out stage of the competition and win the trophy.
The Amavubi of Rwanda will be participating in the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) for the fourth time. The team will play in group C with Uganda, Togo and Morocco. As far as the competition is concerned, Rwanda are no pushovers. Their best participation was in 2016 when they hosted the tournament and were eliminated at the quarter finals. Rwanda began preparations for the competition since early last year.
Reports from Rwanda say the Amavubi team is training under floodlights at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali to prepare the team as they will play some of the CHAN 2021 matches at night. Amavubi’s will play their first match against Uganda on January, 18, 2021 at the Douala Reunification Stadium at 9:00 p.m. The head coach Vincent Mashami is leaving nothing to chance by preparing the team for any eventuality including having the team train and play friendlies at night. The Rwandans are expected to travel to Cameroon on January 11, 2021 to acclimatize ahead of the competition. The Amavubi of Rwanda qualified for the competition in October 2019 after edging Ethiopia 2-1 on aggregate, thanks to goals from striker Ernest Sugira in either leg of the double-header...
