Nigeria : President Buhari Orders “Operation Rescue”

This follows the abduction of 42 people amongst them 27 students from Government Science College, Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the armed forces as well as the police to ensure the safe return of everyone abducted in the Niger State school saga. The President, while condemning the abduction in a release on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 by his Media Assistant, Garba Shehu, disclosed that he has received reports of the brazen attack on Government Science College, Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, following which 42 people were abducted by gunmen amongst them 27 students.
The Government Science College accommodates about 1,000 students and staff members, a police source, who requested anonymity, told Xinhua. Some students managed to escape and the school is doing a headcount to see how many students are missing, the source said. Authorities are trying to locate the gunmen and the abducted students, deploying military aircraft, the source said.
Based on the report, the President has, therefore, directed the Armed Forces and police to ensure the immediate and safe return of all the captives. He has also dispatched to Minna, the Niger State capital, a team of security chiefs ...
