African Para-Taekwondo Championship : Cameroon Wins Gold

Marie Antoine Dassi emerged overall winner in the 65kg category during the competition that took place in Niamey recently.

Marie Antoinette Dassi made Cameroon proud during the fifth edition of the African Para-Taekwondo Championship which ended at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Niamey, Niger, recently. Organised by the Niger Taekwondo Federation, the competition brought together athletes from nine countries on the continent. They are Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Central African Republic and Niger. The competition unfolded in the senior men’s and women’s categories. During the two days of the competition, the athletes had an opportunity to display rich talents in the sport. It was an opportunity for the athletes to prove to that world the handicap is not an obstacle to sports. 
After intense competition, Marie Antoinette Dassi who was participating in the competition for her first time won gold in the 65kg category in the women’s competition. Marie Antoinette was accompanied by her coach, Cyrille Zeufack. Marie Antoinette expressed satisfaction with her victory which according to her is great joy to her coach, family and the country.
