Ensuring Regional Stability : Regional Stabilization Facility Maps Out Way Forward

Members of the Regional Stabilization Facility (RSF) for the Lake Chad have examined the success made so far as well as mapped a way forward in ensuring stability in the Lake Chad sub-region.  This was during a board meeting and a technical meeting that took place in Douala on June 9-10. During the meeting, members examined emerging dynamics in the region, including conflict and security trends and their implications for stabilization in the Lake Chad Basin. Presentations were also made on key successes and achievements of the four country windows, including reflections by donor partners, There was also a review of the ongoing RSF Continuation and Integrated Plan, which will cover the agreed Joint Action Plans as well as the cross-border and regional approach, discussions on funding gaps and emerging opportunities and linkages. 
According to the representative of the Resident Representative OF UNDP Tchad Kamil Kamaluddeen, there have been some level of stability in the region as some refugees have begun returning while some children have also returned to school. He added that they have carried out a lot of activities that have improved the lives of the people living in the region.  Although a lot has been done, he went on, much is still to be done.
