Rugby Sevens : Océans RC, Fon Dreams Academy Champions

The finals of the second edition of the national U20 rugby seven-a-side championship took place in Yaounde on Friday August 12, 2022.

Océans RC of Kribi and For Dreams Academy are the 2022 champions of Cameroon. This is the outcome of the finals of the second edition of the national U20 rugby seven-aside championship that took place at the Mundi Sports Complex in Yaounde on Friday August 12, 2022. Organised by the Cameroon Rugby Federation FECARUGBY, the competition brought together17 teams- six women’s and ten men’s teams from across the country. The thousands of supporters that thronged the venue watched with enthusiasm young Cameroonians display rich talents in the sport. 
It was equally an opportunity to detect young talents and for other young aspirants to develop interest in the sport. After a day of intense competition, Océans Rugby Club of Kribi beat Abeilles Rugby Club of Yaounde 6-0 after penalty kicks. The match ended 0-0 at regular time and both teams could only be separated by penalties. In the women’s category, Nfon Dreams Academy RC of Yaounde drew 7-7 with Soweto RC of Yaounde and had to go through penalty kicks. It was a difficult session as only one player Christelle Tchamba who was able score the three points needed to lift the trophy. Soweto RC put up a good show but Nfon Dreams Academy RC were more experience in the game.
