“Pourquoi moi?” “Il était une fois ma vie” and “Noël au fin fond d'une cellule,” were launched by Ambassador Henri Etoundi Essomba on August, 19, 2022 in Washington DC.
After the successful launch of her latest publications in Cameroon, Mrs. Raissa Eloundou Mengada, a rising Cameroonian novelist, was in the Embassy of Cameroon in Washington, DC, USA, on Friday, August 19, 2022, to present her three works. Coming just one year after she published her very first work, “Pourquoi moi" or “Why Me,” Raissa’s second publishing outing, this year, came with a big bang. The senior cadre of the Cameroon Ministry of Communication, hit the publication stands again, about a month ago, with two new books: “Il était une fois ma vie” and “Noël au fin fond d'une cellule.” She was thus in the Cameroon Embassy in the USA to launch these novels and play in a colourful ceremony presided by His Excellency Henri Etoundi Essomba, Cameroon's Ambassador to the U.S. The Ambassador was elated that Mrs. Raissa Eloundou épouse Mengada chose the Embassy to launch her works. A great tool for promoting Cameroon's rich cultural diversity. The Ambassador's joy was amplified by the fact that it was the first time since he took over that the Embassy was hosting a book launch.
The Cultural Attaché, Mrs. Lydie Bokally, said the Embassy was ready to add Raissa's works amongst those to be showcased at the Francophone Festival in March, 2023. The annual event attracts lots of people from the Francophone community in the US. Cameroonian born American, Mr. Noel Herve Mbida reviewed the three works. He said “Pourquoi moi?” a drama piece, tells the story of a child troubled by growing up in a broken family. “Noël au fin fond d'une cellule” tells the story of Thierry, an unemployed gradua...
