Tiko Airport Rehabilitation : Feasibility Studies On Course

In a meeting in Tiko on September 7, 2022, Bernard Okalia Bilai commissioned an adhoc committee to this effect to speed up with work.

Rehabilitation works at the Tiko Airport in the South West Region will soon begin. A meeting to this effect held in Tiko on September 7, 2022. It was chaired by Bernard Okalia Bilai, South West Governor, following instructions from the Head of State who had ordered for the immediate rehabilitation of the Tiko Airport, one of the recommendations of the Major National Dialogue.
An adhoc commission created has as obligation to educate the population about the project, evaluate the property around the airport and update the file to secure the airport land. The meeting was attended by property owners around the airport. The Governor instructed members of the adhoc commission led by Chaibou, Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, to be diligent but rapid with their assignment. “The main assignment of the commission is to look at the rate of encroachment and the number of persons to be displaced. It is a well-known project and some people are aware they intruded on the Tiko Airport land because they have no authorisation”, Governor Okalia Bilai told the press.
