Insurance : Surveyors, Claim Adjusters Boost Skills

A recently held workshop in Douala sought to ensure that making claims on an insurance serves both claimant and insurance company in a more professional and satisfactory manner.

Making a claim on an insurance and getting paid by the insurance company has been a nightmare to a good many people in Cameroon. Insurance claims based on property damage and bodily injury are common in Douala that is prone to disasters like fire which sometimes gut businesses, homes or institutions and accidents. While many rejoice being paid the damage in full by their insurance companies, the insurance story is only complete if one takes a look at the many others still languishing in almost unbearable situation because of unpaid claims. Some of them become aware of the long and often rigmarole procedures by their insurance companies only when they are in dire need of payment from these financial institutions. While the plight of some who have lost their family members is untold, the Cameroon Chamber of Surveyors and Adjusters think that the problem also hinges on the expertise of the insurance surveyor and claim adjuster. 
It is for this reason that intern surveyors and adjusters working for insurance companies and independent contractors in the sectors of public works, transport and logistics, financial institutions, and automobile beefed up their knowledge of the profession through a training on insurance claim. The knowledge-impacting session brought together surveyors and adjusters used for all types of losses, including property damage and bodily injury at the Douala Sawa Hotel on November 11, 2022.
