South Korea-Ghana : Under Pressure

Both sides are eying a win in today’s game to boost their chances of making it to the knockout stage.

South Korea and Ghana play their second Group H game today, November 28, 2022 at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar. Slated for 2 p.m., both sides are aiming for a first win in the ongoing World Cup tournament to boost their respective last-16 chances. South Korea boast of a point after an opening Group H stalemate against Uruguay. That is one point more than Ghana, that lost out after a thrilling second half against Portugal. The stakes are thus high in this encounter; a defeat will end Ghana’s hopes of qualification and anything less than a win for Korea will make their path to the last-16 tricky with only Portugal left to play.
Playing at their 11th World Cup, South Korea proved to have the strength of creating opportunities in the attack but lacked the ability to concretise against Uruguay. South Korea tend to over-rely on attacking midfielder and captain Son Heung-min, who is slowly re-adapting after a recent facial surgery. Nonetheless, the South Korean’s were aggressive against the experienced Uruguayans and Head coach Paulo Bento hopes to see the same spirit today.
