Morocco-Spain : Last Hope For Africa

After the elimination of Senegal, the continent has diverted attention to the North African side that plays for a spot in the quarterfinals against La Roja today.

Morocco plays Spain in the last 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan today December 6, 2022 with kick-off at 4 p.m. The North Africans have been one of the surprise packages in Qatar and after the elimination of Senegal on December 4, 2022, they remain the last hope for Africa in the ongoing competition.
Morocco finished top of group F ahead of Croatia, Belgium and Canada with Walid Regragui's team reaching the Round of 16 for the first time since 1986. Spain started their group E games in emphatic fashion thrashing Costa Rica 7-0. But a 1-1 draw with Germany and a 2-1 defeat against Japan made the team to finish second behind the Japanese. Despite these, Spain might be “favourites” to beat Morocco but the teams’ experiences in the group phase were a reminder that upsets are possible at any time.
