Public Contracts : Minister Talba Malla Inspects Projects In SW

“Some of the projects are very performant, some are fifty-fifty and others are very bad.” In those words, Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Public Contracts, Ibrahim Talba Malla, rounded off his two-day visit to the South West Region last Friday in Limbe where he inspected some three-year Emergency Plan Projects meant to boost development. The Minister successively visited the on-going construction project of two gigantic structures at the Ombe Government Technical High School near Mutengene under Tiko Subdivision. He also inspected the construction project of the modern Limbe New Town market and the completed VIP hospitalization unit of the Limbe Regional hospital One municipality donated as corporate social responsibility by the oil refinery outfit (SONARA)
The Minister who was accompanied by the South West Regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, and a host of dignitaries also headed to the Limbe Three municipality in Bimbia where they inspected the city structures with less satisfaction. The irk here, as expressed by local authorities, is that the site was poorly chosen and situated some three and a half kilometres away from Limbe Three municipal headquarters in Bimbia. More so, they frowned at the contractors playing over with the works as cracks were already observed on the foundation. Minister Talba Malla admonished that if contractors do not follow the technical and administrative norms, legal sanctions would follow.  “But for the moment, we are sensitizing all stakeholders so next time they cannot say they were not aware”, the Minister underscored.
