2024 Olympic Qualifiers : Lionesses Begin Tussle

They face the Crested Cranes of Uganda today October 26, 2023 at the FUFU Technical Centre in the first leg second round qualifiers of the women’s Olympic Football Tournament.

The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon begin their qualification battle to the 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in Paris, France today October 26, 2023. They play the Crested Cranes of Uganda at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, located about a three-hour drive away from the capital Kampala. It is the first leg of the second round qualifiers of the women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
The first consignment of the Cameroonian delegation made up of 10 home-based players accompanied by the technical staff of the team landed at the Entebbe International Airport in the morning of Tuesday October 24, 2023. The group later on took off for Jinja, a town situated in the East of Uganda. According to information published on the official Facebook page of the Indomitable Lionesses, seven foreign-based players joined the rest of the team on Tuesday. It was thus a group of 17 players who took part in the training session of Tuesday. The last arrivals were announced for yesterday Wednesday October 25, 2023. The pre-match technical meeting and a training session were equally on yesterday’s programme.
It should be said that for the double confrontation against Uganda, Head Coach Jean-Baptiste Bissek picked his best players both home and abroad to help him bring back the victory that Cameroonians are waiting for.
Hopes are high that the team must have put the premature elimination in the qualifiers of the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations behind and stayed with the lessons learned. Correcting the errors of that double confrontation against Kenya and implementing the new strategies that were learned during the camping in Cameroon, will take the team close to victory.
