Cross-border Oil & Gas Project’s Accord : Actors Distinguished With Excellence Medals

The recipients from Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea were decorated in a colourful ceremony at the headquarters of the National Hydrocarbons Corporation on December 15, 2023 in Yaounde.

 

Some 13 officials from Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea who worked tirelessly for the signing of a Bilateral Accord on the project of the cross-border oil and gas field Yoyo in Cameroon and Yolanda in Equatorial Guinea, have been distinguished with medals of excellence. Presidents Paul Biya of Cameroon and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea signed the Accord for the joint exploitation of the cross-border hydrocarbon fields at Unity Palace on March 17, 2023. This was on the sidelines of the 15th Ordinary Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).
The medals; Knight of the Order of Valor and Officer of the Order of Valor, decided by President Paul Biya on exceptional basis, were affixed on the recipients by the Acting Minister of Mines, Industries and Technological Development, Prof. Fuh Calistus Gentry. This was in the presence of the Minister, Director of Civil Cabinet at the Presidency, Samuel Mvondo Ayolo, the Executive General Manager of the National Hydrocarbons Corporation, Adolphe Moudiki, Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Planning and Economy Diversification, Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima; one of the beneficiaries in his capacity as the Minister of Mines of his country during the time of the negotiations. He led his country’s delegation to the medal award ceremony and was accompanied by Equatorial Guinea’s Ambassador to Cameroon.
