Cameroon-Ghana Cooperation : Limbe Fisheries Institute Fortifies Training

Two scholarships were accorded to the institution among other benefits following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Regional Maritime University of Accra.
Limbe Nautical Arts and Fisheries Institute (LINAFI) on Tuesday September 10, 2024 entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Maritime University (RMU) based in Accra, Ghana. The signing ceremony was held on the campus of LINAFI in Wovia village, Limbe. Dr. Etah Collins Ayuk, Director of LINAFI, said there are three key areas highlighted in the MoU. The first is that RMU will facilitate the issuance of Standard of Training Certification and Watch keeping (STCW). “These are the basic obligatory certificates that are required by trainees to access sea going vessels,” he explained. The second key area is harmonizing their curriculum in special domain. A student that leaves LINAFI can just continue in RMU. The third aspect is Certificate of Competency (COC). “We have already outlined the procedures on how COC will be facilitated to our trainees by RMU. These key aspects have opened the world to use. RMU has the accreditation,” he pointed out.
Dr. Jethro W. Brooks, Acting Vice Chancellor of Regional Maritime University, placed two scholarships at the disposal of LINAFI in Industrial Fishing and Navigation, and Marine Engineering....
