Professionalisation of Higher Education : Over 1,300 Fresh Graduates Urged To Create Jobs

The 2024 batch of Biaka University Institute of Buea graduated on November 9,2024 with authorities challenging them to put their skills and knowledge acquired in constructing a strong and emergent Cameroon.
The campus of the Biaka University Institute of Buea (BUIB) was engulfed in ecstasy as 1, 353 students received end-of-course certificates. The Secretary General in the Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. Wilfred Gabsa who represented the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and Chancellor of Academic Orders, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, and the Vice Chancellor of BUIB, Dr Francisca Hongla Biaka declared them graduated in their respective programmes. 65 students graduated from the Master’s Degree programmes, 539 for Bachelor’s Degree, 730 for Diplomas programmes and 19 graduates of the Vocational Training programmes. James Isaac, A Nigerian student in Bsc. Medical Laboratory Science emerged first with a GPA of 3.96 on 4.
The event organized in a typical academic style was characterized by the award of prizes to outstanding graduating students and a special prize award to the Vice Chancellor, Dr Francisca Hongla Biaka who received accolades from various speakers including the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, Prof Horace Ngomo Manga, for resilience and taking the establishment to higher heights.
Dr. Francisca Hongla Biaka in her welcome address said the 24th graduation ceremony which comes on the heels of the 25th anniversary of the institution, was celebrated on the theme “Education at the Service of Humanity and Community Outreach.” Thus, she stated that BUIB is churning out “finely baked professionals who are capable and valuable human resources for the development of the nation and beyond.
