Eswatini : Sihlangu Hoping To Bounce Back

Eswatini has never qualified for the World Cup or the Africa Cup of Nations finals. The team’s best performance was during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification where they finished second in Group L over Guinea and Malawi. For the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Eswatini will be seeking to bounce back. Their first assignment will be against the Group D leaders, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon as they seek to secure their first points in the group. The last time Eswatini played a CAF-sanctioned match was in Pretoria, where Sihlangu faced Madagascar at the Lucas Moripe Stadium during the second preliminary round of the African Nations Championships in December, outside the FIFA week. 
The Sihlangu began preparing for their World Cup 2026 qualifiers match against Cameroon and Mauritius on March 9, 2025. The announcement made recently by the Eswatini Football Association, was proof that Sihlangu head coach, Zdravko Logarusic and officials are working in synergy. The dream of the team is to secure a win so that they can hope for a possible qualification for the World Cup tournament.
