2026 World Cup Qualifiers : Cards Reshuffled

With varying results in the just-ended March window, some of the groups now present a tight face.
The fifth and sixth playing days of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers have just concluded with mixed results. While some groups are already showing indications on which side will qualify, others are presenting a tight face. They Indomitable Lions dropped to the second place in Group D after their draw and a win. They beat the Mediterranean Knights of Libya 3-1 on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde during day-six qualifier match of the 2026 World Cup. The brace of Captain Vincent Aboubakar and a goal from Briand Mbeumo added three points to the Lions’ initial nine points, one point behind the group leader, Cabo Verde who have 13 points on the standings.
Even though the Indomitable Lions are now second in their group, they are leaving nothing to chance as they are bent on staying on top of the group. The Lions now have 12 points, one point behind Cabo Verde who also defeated Angola 1-0 on Tuesday in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. In group D Cabo Verde tops the group with 13 points followed by Cameroon with 12. Libya is third with eight points, one point ahead of Angola at the fourth position. Mauritius Island is in the fifth spot with five points while Eswatini is the last in the group with two points. In all, things seem to be changing in the competition in general. In the meantime, the current front runners in each of the groups in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers are on the way to qualification.
