Professional Football Championships : Djiko, Bamboutos Withdraw

The duo, in separate letters, recently declared their intentions citing discontent over the current management of the Cameroon Football Federation.
Cameroonian football is seemingly facing a slight commotion. In effect, the President of prominent club Djiko FC of Bandjoun, Joseph Feutcheu has announced his withdrawal from all football related activities. Again, popular MTN Elite One club, Bamboutos FC of Mbouda have announced their withdrawal from national competitions. The duo in separate letters have cited their discontent with the current management of the Cameroon Football Federation.
Joseph Feutcheu, the President of Djiko FC, said in a letter on April 7, 2025, that he is withdrawing from all football activities listing problems like unclear finances, unfair refereeing, and clubs being left out of competitions under the current FECAFOOT leadership. Feutcheu has even taken his concerns to court by filing a complaint against FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o. Djiko FC, relegated to the elite two last season, reportedly did not show up for their league game last weekend, showing that President Feutcheu has left alongside his club; saying he will only return once the leadership at FECAFOOT changes.
Adding to the commotion, Bamboutos FC, a historically significant club in Cameroonian football, officially announced their withdrawal from the MTN Elite One championship on April 14, 2025. The club cited substantial unpaid financial dues close to 100 million FCFA as the primary reason for their decision. In their withdrawal letter, Bamboutos FC expressed their belief that they have become the target of orchestrated actions aimed at hindering their progress. They lamented the lack of resolution for documented irregularities submitted to FECAFOOT and highlighted the negative impact of the current climate on the sport.
