Para Sport : Paralympic Athletes Honoured

Team Cameroon bagged home nine gold medals during the just-ended International Marrakech Open.

The Cameroon Paralympic team that took part in the just-ended ninth edition of the International Marrakech Open is back in the country with nine medals won. These are three gold, three silver and three bronze. A ceremony to welcome the Cameroonian flagbearers took place at the headquarters of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) in Nkolndongo, Yaounde on Thursday May 1, 2025. 
Speaking at the occasion, the President of the National Paralympic Committee, Jean Jacques Ndoudoumou said the ceremony was in recognition of their merit. “We wanted the para athleytes and their officials to tell them that we are watchful, that we appreciate what they are doing and this occasion is to tell them to go ahead because the final goal is the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028,” he said. He said to attain this objective, we have to start with such international competitions. “In Sub-Saharan Africa I don’t think there is a country that obtained the results we had. I am satisfied,” he said. He said everything is being put in place to ensure adequate preparations for athletes ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
