MTN Elite One : Three Matches Not played

Of the eight fixtures of match day 22 programmed across the country last weekend, only five effectively took place.


Matchday 22 of the ongoing MTN Elite One championship was marred over weekend, with three of the scheduled eight fixtures failing to take place across the country. One of the most anticipated clashes that fell through was the encounter between Aigle Royal of Moungo and Dynamo Douala at the Bepanda Annexe Stadium on Sunday. Dynamo Douala was present and ready to play, but Aigle Royal of Moungo failed to appear. A letter dated April 30, 2025, and addressed to the Secretary General of the Transitional Council of Professional Football in Cameroon better known as CTFP surfaced indicating Aigle's plea for a postponement. The club cited a severe lack of financial resources to cover travel and lodging expenses and players' salaries. The letter also highlighted the alleged non-receipt of federation subventions. Adding another layer of intrigue, a reaction of Secretary General of Aigle Moungo on matchday claimed that a significant number of players suffered from food poisoning, rendering them unable to participate in the fixture.
The second match to be affected by a team's absence involved Gazelle FA and Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) on Sunday in Garoua. Staying true to their earlier threats of withdrawal due to subvention issues, Yong Sports Academy, based in Bamenda, did not travel to the Roumde Adjia annex stadium in Garoua. Gazelle FA were present on the pitch, ready for the match.
