Bamenda: Gas Filing Centre Inaugurated

The North West Region now has an automated gas filing centre with a capacity of 200MT, constructed in a surface area of about 10 hectares with additional bases provided for future use. The 12-post carousel has the capacity of filing 600-650 bottles per hour. Addressing the population of the North West Region during the inauguration ceremony on May 9 in Bamenda, the Minister of Water Resources and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba saluted all stakeholders who after 30 months have successfully contributed to the realisation of the project. He was very satisfied as he commended the contributions of the various stakeholders, stating that, "The government will like to bring domestic gas closer to household". The programme, the Minister said, is in progress as filing centres are planted closer to the population to promote the use of domestic gas in households. The Minister told the population that the gas will be sold at FCFA 6,500 which was celebrated by the population as gas was hitherto supplied from Bafousssm for at least FCFA 8,500. On his part, the General Manager of the Hydrocarbons Prices Stabilization Fund, Okie Johnson Ndoh saluted all the stakeholders for making it possible for the realisation of the multi-purpose ultra-modern domestic gas filing complex. To him, the realisation was a collective effort of all the stakeholders who for the past 30 months worked tirelessly. He said the facility will serve public interest in many ways. He said the complex is not just a symbolic event but a reflection of the dynamism of the public authorities in the petroleum sector.
