World Draughts Championship : Cameroon Eliminated

All does not seem to be well for Cameroonian players in the ongoing World Draughts Championship in Yaounde. Cameroonian athletes taking part in the ongoing 2025 edition of the World Draughts Championship in Yaounde have been eliminated from the competition. This is the outcome of the group phase of the competition that ended on Friday June 13, 2025 at the Mundi Sports Complex in the outskirts of Yaounde.  At the Mundi Sports Complex on Friday morning, where the players are lodged and equally the competition ground, the atmosphere was calm. Silence is the watch word. Visitors are advised to put their mobile phones on vibration or better still switch off. No one is allowed to talk to a player during the competition. 
Organisers say very few supporters made it that day as many people are workers. Our source said the turnout is huge during the weekends. This notwithstanding, the competition is going on as planned with the athletes determined to win. A total of 40 players divided into four groups of ten players are taking part in the competition. Only the top three players qualified for the second round of the competition. At the end of the group stage 12 athletes qualified for the next round of the competition. Out of that number, two are from Africa (Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo) and one from Leetonia. The other nine qualified players are from The Netherlands.
