G7 Summit : Leaders Call For De-escalation

The four-day summit that ended yesterday, was overshadowed by the ongoing air war between Israel and Iran.
Leaders of some of the world's biggest economic powers known as G7 (Group of Seven Summit) have rounded off their summit in the Canadian Rockies town of Kananaskis (Albertine). On the agenda of the summit that kicked-off on Sunday were the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, Russia-Ukraine crisis and U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs war. After four days of brainstorming nothing much trickled out from their discussions.
Iran-Israel Air Strikes
The leaders of G7 nations have urged a “de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza” - but stopped short of calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, during their summit in Canada. The joint statement was signed by US President Donald Trump who then left the meeting early. The Group of Seven nations expressed support for Israel in a statement and labeled its rival Iran as a source of instability in the Middle East. Israel attacked Iran on Friday in what it called a preemptive strike to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. Since then the two Middle Eastern rivals have exchanged blows, with Iranian officials reporting over 220 deaths, mostly civilians, while Israel said 24 civilians were killed.
Ongoing Tariffs War
Though many leaders had expressed the wish to hold talks with US President Donald Trump, only the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Japanese PM Shigeru were able to meet the US leader.
