Electoral Board of ELECAM : Mathias Stéphane Bell Sworn-in

The President of the Constitutional Council, Clement Atangana, chaired the taking of the oath of office event on June 26, 2025.

Appointed on May 19, 2025 by the President of the Republic, to the Electoral Board of Elec- tions Cameroon, Father Bell Mathias Stéphane, in accordance with existing regulations, has taken his oath of office before the Constitutional Coun- cil. This was during a solemn cere- mony chaired by the President of the aforementioned Council, Clement Atangana on June 26, 2025. Indeed, the swearing-in ceremony is in accordance with Section 12(6) of the Electoral Code which obliges members of the Electoral Board of the elections management body to take an oath of office before the Constitutional Council. Facing the National Flag, right hand up (in white gloves) and left hand on the Constitution, Father Bell Ma- thias Stéphane took the oath of office in the words; “I swear to fully and faithfully discharge my duties and to exercise my office without fear or favour in accordance with the Constitution and laws in force, to ensure the confidentiality of pro- ceedings and votes, to abstain from taking public positions and to decline any consultation on matters falling within the purview of Elections Ca- meroon.” The President of the Consti- tutional Council while presiding at the event highlighted the current political context of Cameroon which is the organisation of the Presidential election. Highlighting the stakes of the election that usually sparks ten- sion, threatens national unity and puts the democratic process to test, the President of the Constitutional Council called on Father Bell Mathias Stéphane to remain impartial and respect every legal disposition in the discharge of his duties.
