Double Diamond Jubilee of the CNOSC : Sports Actors Rewarded

This was during a gala night to mark the closing of the celebrations that took place in Nkol-Eton, Yaounde on Saturday June 28, 2025.

The premises of the National Olympic and Sports Committee in Nkol-Eton, Yaounde were exceptionally busy on Saturday June, 28, 2025. The event was a gala night to mark the closing of the celebrations of the double Diamond Jubilee of the Olympic and Sports Movement in Cameroon (1963-2023 and 1964-2024). During those years, Cameroon has won six Olympic medals. These are the silver medal won by Joseph Bessala in 1968 in Mexico, Bronze medal by Ndongo Ebanga in 1984 in Los Angeles, gold medal in football in 2000 in Sydney and two gold medals won in triple jump by Françoise Mbango in 2004 in Athens, Greece and in Beijing, China in 2008. 
Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Joseph Yerima called on the officials of the National Olympic and Sports Committee to double their efforts in the culture of peace. He also called on all sports federations to inculcate in athletes the values of respect and peace. The President of CNOSC, Kalkaba Malboum said government has encouraged several sports disciplines in the Olympic Games notably athletics, boxing and judo, among others. He said since 1964 to 2024, Cameroon has participated in all editions of the Olympic Games. Several distinctions were handed over to actors of the sports movement who contributed to the success of the Olympic movement in Cameroon and also compensation of Cameroon to some athletes who distinguished themselves in the Olympic Games and other competitions such as the Commonwealth Games, All Africa Games and the Islamic Solidarity Games.
