Upcoming Presidential : Election ELECAM Fine-tunes Preparations

Prior to the convening of the electoral college in view of the Presidential election slated for October this year, members of the Electoral Board of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) met on June 28, 2025 to evaluate its pace of preparedness. The second ordinary session was presided at by the Chairperson of the Electoral Board, Dr. Enow Abrams Egbe, who noted that the institution is already commencing its final stretch that precedes the convening of the upcoming Presidential election. The preparations, he noted, are on a good footing as electoral material have been acquired and installed. “We also acquired a few months ago, 1,000 state-of-the-art biometric enrollment kits, already configured and fully deployed in the regional branches to revitalize the voter registration operations,” he stated. The Chairperson of the Electoral Board adds that statistics from the field are encouraging. In fact, figures indicate that as at June 26, 2025, there were 373,588 newly registered potential voters, bringing the electoral register to 8,219,210 registered persons, pending revision. Out of the number, 3,789,859 are women and 4,429,351 are men. The statistics, Enow Abrams Egbe noted, reflect the intensity of the sensitisation campaigns, and most especially the commitment of the field agents and the efficiency of the 360 mixed commissions on the revision of electoral registers. 
To that effect, deliberations were devoted to the examination of the quarterly activity report from May to June 2025 submitted by the Director General of Elections. The said report offers a comprehensive overview of the progress made towards achieving the operational objectives of the elections management body and highlights current challenges faced in the implementation of the 2025-2026 strategic plan.
