U-19 FIBA World Cup : Cameroon Records Second Defeat

After falling to France and Australia in the first two games of the competition ongoing in Lausanne, Switzerland, the U-19 Lions play their last group game today against the USA.

The U-19 Basketball team of Cameroon's campaign has not been a fairytale. They were pooled in Group D, a pool considered by many as the "Group of Death" at the ongoing U-19 FIBA World Cup in Lausanne, Switzerland. Cameroon is yet to survive the terror of its more experienced opponents, resulting in a 0-2 record after losing to France and Australia in their first two group matches. On Game Day 1, France needed time but eventually took over against debutants Cameroon, winning 75-50 in Group D.
The second game against Australia on June 29, 2025, was even more electrifying, as the Cameroonian team gave their best. Australia survived a real struggle and outclassed Cameroon 101-96 in double overtime. Australia was down six points with 50 seconds left but managed to force the first extra session thanks to Alex Dickeson's three-pointer with four seconds to go. The Oceania powers came through in the second overtime, giving Cameroon a 0-2 record. Cameroon's Franck Belbi scored 29 points, and star center Amadou Seini tallied 15 points and tied a FIBA U19 World Cup record with 25 rebounds.
