Social Dialogue Committee : Workers Examine Digital Era Challenges

This was during the 45th session of the consultative committee chaired by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, yesterday June 30, 2025.

The digital revolution is transforming the workface and industries worldwide, including in Cameroon. To thrive in this new environment, Cameroonian companies will need to invest in digital technologies, develop new skills, and innovate to meet the changing needs of the market. It is within this backdrop that members of the Social Dialogue Consultative and Monitoring Committee held its 45th session yesterday June 30, 2025 in Yaounde with focus on the impact of the digital revolution on the workplace. Chairing the meeting was the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Grégoire Owona. 
The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona emphasised on the importance of social dialogue and labour rights in promoting decent work and economic development. He revealed that this year is marked by the implementation of the work agenda in the context of organising elections of employee representatives and the continuation of actions related to worker's protection. While highlighting the potential benefits of the committee which amongst other things seek to improve labour relations between employers and employees, Minister Grégoire Owona said the government is committed to promoting social dialogue, labour rights, and social security, with a focus on transitioning workers from the informal sector to the formal sector and improving working conditions. 
During a presentation to committee members, Silvere Elomo, the representative of the SYNDUSTRICAM Trade Union said digital transformation is reshaping the workforce and industries, bringing both opportunities and challenges.
