Parliamentary Cooperation : Cameroon, UK Strengthen Options

Exchanges to that effect held on July 7, 2025 during an audience the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril granted the British High Commissioner, Matt Woods.
The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Matt Woods, during an audience with the Speaker of the National Assembly expressed the desire and determination to see parliamentary cooperation between the two countries grow to higher heights. The maiden encounter between the diplomat and the legislator since the former began his diplomatic assignment in Cameroon in September 2024, was thus a platform for the two personalities to talk about giving an added impetus to legislative relations.
Matt Woods who spoke to reporters after the audience said they are keen at improving relations between the law-making institutions of Cameroon and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. “The main purpose was to talk about parliamentary links and how we can strengthen those links. We talked about how to revitalise the group of friends of British-Cameroonian parliamentarians. It is good to have relations with governments but it is also important to have relationship with parliamentarians. We are really keen to widen that relationship as well,” the British High Commissioner stated.
The representative of His Majesty King Charles II in Cameroon just returned from Far North Region, and certainly exchanged with the House Speaker on how the British government can collaborate with Cameroon in the fight against Boko Haram and foster development there.
