North West : Over 27, 000 New Voters In 2025

Some fortunate potential voters succeeded to enroll in the electoral registers in Bamenda on July 11, 2025 shortly before the decree of the President of the Republic convening electors to the polls on October 12, 2025 for the presidential election.  Information from the North West Regional Delegation of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) indicate that by July 11, 2025 some 27,000 new voters had register for elections counting for the 2025.
Last minutes registration rushes were observed in the Bamenda I Council Branch of ELECAM on Friday, July 11 during the day. The staff were seen  busy attending to the population  at their various points. The ELECAM Council Branch head,  Yaya Saidou Jibrill  told Cameroon Tribune that  while awaiting for electors to be convened, they were still expecting more people to come  and take advantage of the last minutes. He said their offices were open and the staff were ready and doing their task diligently. He disclosed that in the past few days they registered more people compared to the past where they could register that number  in three weeks.  Bamenda 1 has registration points at their office, the Bamendankwe Village and at the Governor’s Junction where they  direct and assist people who file in for the voter process. 
The past figures have been encouraging according to Yaya Saidou who said they registered about 116 people on Thursday July 10, 2025. He added that his team was given a target of 2,356 new voters this year.  As at Thursday July 10, he disclosed, they were already at 2,545 new electors. He revealed that out of those coming in for registration, the youths are taking the lead with an 80 per cent enrollment with the male dominating.
