NW Regional Assembly : Priorities For 2026 Financial Year

The members of the North West Regional Assembly selected their priority actions during the June ordinary session from July 14-16, 2025 in Bamenda.
Members of the North West Regional Assembly in the June 2025 ordinary session of the House on the theme, “2025 budget orientation debate, updates of first semester 2025” debated and adopted the priority projects and actions they intend to carry out in the 2026 financial year in fostering development in the region. What remains now for the concrete execution of the projects and actions is the budgetary allocation the State will have to give to the Regional Assembly counting for the 2026 State budget.
Speaking during the closing plenary sitting of the session, the President of the North West Regional Assembly, Professor Fru Angwafo III enumerated some priority areas of concern. He said the House intends to continue with cash for work projects planning for better execution. He also said that the State was planning to launch recruitment when necessary texts will be available. On the educational domain, he expressed delight on the significant improvement. Specifically, he disclosed that, “From 84,000 learners on secondary education last year, we have 103,000 enrolled this year. We also have moved to 318 functional schools.” With the improvement he said, the Regional Assembly will continue building classrooms but this will take into account the disaggregated information on enrollment per Division and Subdivision. All measures have also been taken to ensure that all subdivisions benefit from PDI projects.
