Management of Refugees : Cameroon’s Leadership Lauded

Efforts by government as concerns the management of refugees within the country have been appreciated by the Resident Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Cameroon, Yvette Muhimpundu, who was received by External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella on July 21, 2025. 
A statement by the UN official who presented her letters of introduction on September 10, 2024 revealed that the audience was an opportunity to acknowledge strides of the government, present an envisaged plan of action aimed at finding sustainable solutions to refugees and highlight the challenges faced with the perspective of further collaborating to address them. “It was an opportunity for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Cameroon to reiterate their sincere gratitude to the government for their exemplary leadership in the domain of protection and the research od lasting solutions to refugees and affected persons on the territory of Cameroon,” she stated. The Resident Representative added that it was also a moment for her to highlight the challenges faced by the UN agency charged with the management of refugees and persons who have been forced to displace. Amongst the challenges, Yvette Muhimpundu, mentioned dwindling financing, but at the same time expressed the desire to continue working in partnership with the government of Cameroon in mobilising resources, within the framework of advancing the country’s national priorities in the management of refugees.
