Chad : National Seminar On Decentralization Afoot

President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, did kick-start the brainstorming exercise on July, 21, 2025 in NDjamena.

A five-day National Seminar under the theme, “Decentralization in the era of the Fifth Republic”, ongoing in NDjamena. The five-day from July 21-25 is a continuation of the institutional rebuilding process initiated by the Chadian authorities. On hand to launch the event that brought together administrative, local officials, representatives of civil society and technical partners, was the President of the Republic, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, who reaffirmed his total commitment to the major reform. “Decentralization is not a simple administrative reform. It reflects the will of the people, as expressed during the constitutional referendum,” he insisted, stressing that this approach aims to bring decision-making centers closer to citizens and to guarantee equitable management of public resources. Aware of the challenges posed by this ambitious project, the Head of State insisted that, “As guarantor of the reforms, I will not accept any obstacle to the full implementation of decentralization”.
