It is so common these days for one’s attention to be easily drawn to all manner of online promotional campaigns and job recruitment announcements especially on WhatsApp and the internet. While some are true and genuine, a good number tends to be fake. In fact, such announcements are no less than schemes carefully crafted by fraudsters to rob innocent users of their hard-earned cash. Telling the difference between genuine and scam promotional campaigns is not often easy for the common person. For, it demands good and deep knowledge of the internet. 
The most common online diddle promotional campaigns generally have to with the supposed or actual anniversaries of famous companies, or reputable organisations. For example, con people would put out an announcement saying the company or organisation is celebrating its 50 years of operations and has decided to reward its existing and potential clientele by offering, say, 3,000 purchase vouchers of 100,000 FCFA each to the first people to register. All you need to do is to click on an indicated link and secure your purchase voucher for a particular supermarket.  
Without bothering to crosscheck the truth of the information, many internet and social media users often fall for the trick. Along the line, they are obliged to pay for some “handling charges” only to discover to their chagrin at the end that the whole thing was a scam. At this level, it is too late to do anything.
