Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026 : King’s Baton Relay Presented

The ceremony to welcome the very first King’s Baton Relay took place at the Residence of the British High Commission in Yaounde on Tuesday July 22, 2025.

The garden of the Residence of the British in Yaounde was the venue of the ceremony to present the very first King’s Baton Relay of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Tuesday July 22, 2025. Speaking at the occasion the Deputy High Commissioner, Robert Fitzpatrick said Cameroon stands proudly at the heart of the Commonwealth. He said the arrival of the baton is more than a ceremonial moment. 
The President of the Cameroon Commonwealth Games Association, Kalkaba Malboum presented the baton to the Deputy High Commissioner. The King’s Baton that portrays Cameroon’s four cultural zones will compete against the baton of the other 73 Commonwealth nations during the finals next year. For the first time in history, each Commonwealth nation and territory has received its own Baton to customise. The baton carries a message from His Majesty King Charles III to the people of the Commonwealth. But it also carries something even more profound, the spirit of connection. Crafted with eco-friendly materials, it stands as sustainability, a call to protect the environment for future generations.
