Mandela Day : Festive Celebration In Yaounde

The event that took place at the Nsam neighborhood on July 24, 2025, was an opportunity to commune with children with disabilities.

The decor was well staged with banners of one of the most prominent telephone service provider indicating serious business in the pipe. As from 11h55 minutes, the South African High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E. Mandla Langa set the ball rolling at the headquarters of Association DVLancez-vous in Yaounde. On hand to celebrate this year’s event under the theme, “It is still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity”, where three associations catering for children with disabilities; Association “Le Son du Sourd”, Association “La Maison Bleue de Julien and “Association DVLancez-vous”. 
Cognizan of the fact that this year’s theme is a clarion call to all of us to get involved and participate in activities which will assist in combating poverty and inequality in our society, the South African High Commissioner, H.E Mandla Langa said, “it is very pleasing to celebrate the “67 Minutes” of Mandela’s contribution to peace progress and development especially in Cameroon where I can vividly remember when I saw the picture of Nelson Mandela getting out of the plane and being saluted by H.E Paul Biya. This showed a lot of camaraderie that has continued with the ministry of social affairs that has embraced us. Today, we have been working hand-in-glove with the Ministry of Social Affairs and other international institutions like the diplomatic wing of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC), in the realization of educational and sporting activities in favour of children with disabilities.
He promised to keep the Mandela spirit that consist of; forgiveness, unity and commitment to justice and equality...
