Enhancing Agriculture : FAO Promises Technical Support

Enhancing the agricultural sector as a best alternative to meeting the demands of the domestic market with regards to cash crops, livestock and fisheries, is one of the focal points of governments as highlighted in the National Development Strategy 2030. It is against the backdrop of achieving this goal that the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute granted an audience to the Resident Representative of the Food and Agricultural Organisation, Antonio Luís Évora Ferreira Querido. It was the maiden audience between the two personalities following the presentation of the letters of introduction of the Resident Representative at the Ministry of External Relations on July 1, 2025. 
Antonio Luís Évora Ferreira Querido presented the priorities of his roadmap during his tenure in Cameroon and reiterated his determination to supporting Ministries in Cameroon to promote the agricultural sector for sustainable development. “My visit to the Prime Minister was to reassure the government that we will do our very best to ensure that agriculture remains a vital sector for the transformation of this country. We reviewed the potentials that exist, not only crop, livestock, forestry, but also fisheries,” the Resident Representative stated. The official of the specialised UN agency further noted that they agreed that Cameroon is the food basket of the region, therefore the need to enhance the sector for transformation. 
As concerns his roadmap, he said he will focus on harnessing the potentials in the agricultural sector for the structural transformation of Cameroon. Antonio Luís Évora Ferreira Querido told rep...
