Fight Against Corruption : Special Crusade Ends With 18 Arrests

This outcome follows a week-long Anti-Corruption Clinic campaign held from August 4 to 8 in Douala, Littoral Region.

Eighteen individuals have been arrested in connection with corruption-related allegations. This was the outcome of the special campaign carried out by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC) that ended in Douala last Friday August 8, 2025. The five-day initiative aimed to combat corruption in the Littoral Region.
CONAC officials at the event in Douala confirmed that most complaints were valid, revealing systemic corruption across various sectors. CONAC's investigations uncovered corruption in numerous areas of national life, with frequently reported issues including allegations of extortion from motorcycle taxi drivers and traders, as well as abuse of office by Municipal Police agents. There were also reports of extortion from road users and citizens lacking National Identity Cards, extortion during the process of obtaining land titles, fraudulent land sales, and irregularities in land title issuance. Complaints about slow judicial proceedings, bias in judgments, and bribery to visit detainees were common, along with fraud, extortion, and embezzlement of funds from vaccination campaigns. Allegations were made against schools for charging unjustified fees, mismanaging PTA funds, and improperly collecting exam fees.
