After Popular Rally : Venerated Paul Biya Leaves Maroua

Like on arrival, the Head of State and wife were celebrated on departure yesterday October 8, 2025 as they bade farewell to the people of the three northern regions with promises of undiminished support.
President Paul Biya and candidate of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) for the October 12 Presidential election has left Maroua; seemingly fulfilled and reassured of continuous support from the decisive population of the Adamawa, North and Far North Regions. The visit of the Head of State and party Chairman of the CPDM in the Far North regional capital, initially announced for one day, went into day two as Paul and Chantal Biya spent a night in Maroua. That the Head of State also took time off on arrival at the airport to shake hands with administrative, religious and traditional authorities as well as hundreds of elite from the three regions who turned up to welcome him speaks volumes of the attachment. The people said this meant a lot for them. In fact, this shows the bond existing between the President of the Republic and his electoral bastion, the three northern regions, that are said have the lion’s share of the over eight million potential voters for the upcoming polls.
Like on arrival, the Head of State and wife were acclaimed on departure yesterday October 8, 2025 from their residence through the streets of the refurbished Maroua to the Maroua-Salak airport as they bade farewell to the people of the three northern regions with promises of unalloyed support. The people, through speeches, messages on banners and even spontaneous songs, reassured the President of the Republic that they are with and for him and their firm loyalty will once again be demonstrated on October 12 when they go to the polls.
Far North Regional Governor, Midjiyawa Bakari, who welcomed and saw off the Head State and wife likewise other administrative authorities and elite notably Honourable Cavayé Yéguié Djibril, Speaker of the National Assembly and Regional Campaign Chair for the Far North Region and the City Mayor of Maroua, Dr. Sali Babani, were all smiles at the airport yesterday.
