Senate : Diplomacy, Aviation, Agriculture Bills Tabled

Some three bills were on November 17, 2025 tabled at the Senate during a plenary sitting chaired by the Senior Vice President, Aboubakary Abdoulaye. The legal instruments seek to authorise the President of the Republic to ratify the agreement between Cameroon and Algeria on the exemption of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports, ratify the agreement on air transport between Cameroon and Qatar and lay down the framework governing organic farming in Cameroon. All three documents were deemed admissible during a Chairmen’s Conference presided at by the Senior Vice President of the Senate. 
The legal instrument on visa requirement exemption, defended before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate immediately after the plenary sitting by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of External Relations in charge of Cooperation with the Commonwealth, Felix Mbayu, aims to exempt holders of diplomatic and service passports of Cameroon and Algeria from visa requirements for entry, stay, exit, and transit through the territory of the other party for a period not exceeding 90 days. It offers both States the opportunity to strengthen their bilateral ties, based on the principles of reciprocity, and mutual respect for national sovereignty. Ratifying the agreement, the document justifies, will place Algeria on an equal footing with Tunisia and Egypt, two North African countries with which Cameroon has already established similar agreements. It equally reiterates the fact that the agreement is part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and intra-African cooperation.
