Squad Lists Keep Flowing

Several participating teams in the likes of South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Benin, DRC, Cameroon have recently made public their final or provisional lists of players.

Since December 1, 2025, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) reportedly closed the platform for submitting the provisional squads for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). This deadline prompted several participating teams to release their player rosters on social media, announcing either provisional or final squads set to defend their national colours in the upcoming tournament. South Africa was among the first teams to reveal its preliminary squad before going ahead to make public its final list. Head coach Hugo Broos announced a final 25-man roster, which features a strong core of players from local giants Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. Bostwana was equally one of the early birds as Coach Morena Ramoreboli is already in camp having called up 32 players. 
Benin’s national team coach, Gernot Rohr, unveiled a provisional list to start preparations for the tournament, signalling the squad’s initial framework. Similarly, Nigeria’s Super Eagles, under coach Eric Chelle, named a 54-man provisional roster, which promises intense competition among players vying to make the final list. Cameroon on December 1 also announced its final list of 28 players set to participate in AFCON.
