Burkina Faso : Resilient Contestants

The Stallions enter the Total Energies CAF AFCON 2025 in Morocco's Group E alongside Senegal, Malawi and Burundi.

Under the supervision of their home coach Brama Traoré, appointed in March 2023 after Hubert Velud's exit, the Stallions reached their qualification in group L as second behind Senegal. This will mark their 14th AFCON appearance since they started in 1978.
Their highest achievement came in 2013, reaching the final in South Africa only to fall 0-1 to Nigeria, missing the gold medal, hence, having no continental title recorded so far. The current head coach Brama Traoré's tactical flexibility, shifting between 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, and 4-1-4-1, inspires a balanced mood favouring defensive and resilience. He recently announced his final 25-man squad combining established internationals with a new generation of players aiming to impact the upcoming tournament. In defence, Abdoul Ayindé and Arsène Kouassi are both in line for their first AFCON appearance as left-backs. He has also added new players at the attacking compartment; Landry Kaboré, Georgi Minougou, Lassina Traoré, Irié Cyriaque and Mohamed Zoungrana are those called to camp.
