Peace, Serenity : Senate President Offers Prayers

Sunday December 28, 2025 was a little different at the residence of the Senate President, Marcel Niat Njifenji. In the company of other dignitaries, family and friends, the legislator organised a thanksgiving service. The objective of the consecrated get-together was to thank the Almighty for the year 2025, celebrate the victory of President Paul Biya at the just-ended Presidential election and offer prayers of peace for the country.
With some regions undergoing security challenges and socio-political tensions, post-electoral violence observed in certain towns after the proclamation of the results of the Presidential election, and disturbing surge of hate speech, the holy rites were to call on God to intercede for sustainable peace to reign in the country. The officiating prelate mainly prayed for peace-loving citizens who are tolerant and forgiving. Globally, prayers were for national unity and harmony amongst citizens; an undeniable pillar for development. Prayers were also offered for the Presidential couple, calling on the Almighty to bestow them with wisdom in decision-making as they lead the country.
There was a general spirit of conviviality at the meeting between the President of the Senate and his guests at the Yaounde residence. Prominent amongst those who attended the event were the former President of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Philemon Yang, members of government such as the Minister of Communication, René Emmanuel Sadi, Senators, Members of Parliament (MPs) and elite of the West Region, where the Senate President originates.
