Commemorative activities to mark this year’s edition of Women’s Day was launched at the Ministry of External Relations last Tuesday.

Commemorative activities to mark this year’s edition of the International Women’s Day at the Ministry of External Relations have been launched. This was on March 3, 2026 with the Secretary General of the Ministry, Oumarou Chinmoun chairing the event to officially kick-start various activities aimed at celebrating women in diplomacy. In his words, he celebrated the Ministry’s women who, according to him, have collaborated with men in enhancing Cameroon’s diplomacy as well as other national accomplishments. The Minister Plenipotentiary did not stay quite on the major role played by women in the development of the society. The President of the Association of Dynamic Women in Diplomacy (DYFEDCAM), Sylvie Elung, who is equally Inspector General at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Services, said this year’s edition is being commemorated under the theme; “Rights, Justice, Action: For All Women and Girls,” and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has, for its part, retained the sub-theme, “Rights of Women and Girls: International Commitments and Concrete Actions of Cameroonian Diplomacy.” According to her, these themes reflect desire to combine international commitments and concrete actions, in order to promote the full recognition of the rights of women and girls, both in the professional environment as well as cultural and social initiatives. “To kick off this week of celebrations, we have chosen to start with the exhibition of hidden talents by the women of the Ministry of External Relations.
