Keep Douala II Clean Competition: “Femmes du Haut-Nkam” Emerges Winner

The 16th edition of the most socially engaged women’s association competition in the Douala II municipality took place recently. The prize award ceremony, held on Sunday, May 31, saw the “Association des femmes du Haut- Nkam” emerge as the 2026 winner. The winning association received FCFA 1.5 million, along with an additional CFA 250,000 from Carine Nke Ndjana, wife of the Divisional Officer of the Douala II Subdivision. Launched about 16 years ago by the Mayor of the Douala II Council, Barrister Fampou Denise, the competition aims to promote cleanliness throughout the municipality. For over 16 years, women’s associations have participated in cleaning the streets and sensitizing the population on the importance of keeping their environment clean. For the 2026 edition, 41 women’s associations took part in the competition. At the end of the event, Haut-Nkam was declared the winner, followed by AFNA and AFANTA, which came third. The winner received FCFA 1.5 million, the secondplace association FCFA 1 million, and the third-place association FCFA 800,000. All participating associations received at least CFA 50,000 worth wheelbarrows, other cleaning materials, and food items.
