2026 International Cycling Tour of Cameroon: Erberveld Jorik Wins Sixth Lap

It was a new face that emerged at the top of the podium yesterday June 9, 2026: Erberveld Jorik. The cyclist from the Global Cycling Team of the Netherlands proved to be stronger than the hitches that occurred before the start of the sixth lap in Douala at the ongoing International Cycling Tour of Cameroon. Although it lasted longer than expected, everything went well at the end of the day. In the morning, an official announcement indicated that the sixth lap, the Douala criterium, initially slated to begin at 11:00, would be shifted to 12:00 noon due to the late arrival of cyclists from Banganté to Douala. But at 12:00 noon, the race had still not begun. Then the President of the Cameroon Cycling Federation, Honoré Yossi, took the floor to explain that an initial reconnaissance of the course revealed elements that could be risky for the cyclists. He indicated that gravel used to fill some potholes was still very visible and could lead to tyre punctures, which could in turn cause a cyclist to fall while taking a corner. So, in consultation with the commissioner of the International Cycling Union, they decided to modify the course. He then asked for more minutes for the new parcours to be evaluated. After a few minutes, the evaluation team was back with good news: the race would effectively take place, despite some spectators already expressing fears that it would be annulled; a situation that is not new to Douala. The cyclists then positioned themselves at the start; they were given 11 rounds on the circuit that began at the esplanade of the Douala IV Council. The first was the lap met round while the 10 others were for real competition, totalling 77 km. It was highly competitive as the peloton toured Bonaberi.
