West: Integrated Development In The Pipe

Bafoussam (Mifi) - A concertation meeting to adopt a development in­ tegration approach for the city of Ba­ foussam, aimed at creating a wide and sustainable development space to maximize socio-economic benefits for broader Bafoussam public, held in Bafoussam on, 20, August, 2026. The one-day concertation meeting was organized by the Bafoussam city and it brought together partners from the private sectors, chiefs and quarter heads, from all three subdi­ visions in Mifi and mayors as well as state holders in development pro­ cess. Addressing participants at both ope­ ning and closing ceremonies, the mayor of the Bafoussam city council, Tafam Roger, said the meeting was to study and have a distinctive ap­ proach to the development of the city of Bafoussam. He said from the important positions of chiefs and quarter heads in any society, the city council thought that working toge­ ther with them, will provide a frame work in which they can move- for­ ward together for a more equitable sustainable development plan in Ba­ foussam city. Tafam, said, the putting in place, de­ centralization and transfer of compe­ tence to local authorities by Presi­ dent, Paul Biya, was to bring the leaders of communities, ordinary people, actors of civil society and NGOs to play active roles in the de­ velopment process. He stressed that he called the various actors together, because they are well suited to ser­ vices, like health, education and wa­ ter in urban and rural areas.
