Political Parties In Parliament: Strategic Alignment, Reflections…

There are a total of nine political parties represented in Cameroon’s Parliament, that is both at the National Assembly and Senate. The entry ticket into the National Assembly is only by the ballot box while the Senate is through an election or a Presidential appointment. Representatives of political parties represented in Parliament note their objective to increase their representation in the law-making House. To this effect, officials are carrying out activities geared at expanding their political presence in the country. The Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, is taking the opportunity on the electoral calendar modification to adjust its strategies. A member of the Central Committee, Prof. Elvis Ngolle Ngolle notes that the Secretary General of the Central Committee has continued with his consultations with all the leaders of the party at all levels. “These consultations are intended to ensure that our militants at all levels know what is at stake, get to know all who can better represent the party in the upcoming elections so that we can come out as winners when the elections take place. The CPDM is a party that believes and respects the law, and is a party that is disciplined and well organised,” he stated. For the Social Democratic Front (SDF), it is a moment of building on strengths and learning from the lessons of the October Presidential election. In a circular letter from the party Chairman, Joshua Osih, to members on April 21, 2026, there is no time to waste.
