United States of America: Cameroon Embassy Showcases Cultural Heritage

It was an event dedicated to celebrating Cameroon’s diverse identities and at the same time, fostering creativity and building meaningful connections. Saturday’s event which offered one of the most vibrant and engaging cultural showcases in the metropolitan area, began at 9:30 a.m. and ended at 5p.m. Around the World Embassy Tour is a signature event of PASSPORT D.C, a month-long festival in which diplomatic missions and institutions open their doors to visitors to discover their home countries and celebrate global cultures. This year, over 60 diplomatic missions and institutions participated. More than seven thousand visitors answered present at the Embassy of Cameroon in Washington D.C. this year, eager to witness a rich display of Cameroon’s cultural heritage, artistic excellence, legendary and unmatched hospitality. The Embassy of Cameroon emerged as one of the standout destinations during this year’s Around the World Embassy Tour. Featuring were an impressive mélange of visual arts, starring the renowned Cameroonian international artist Shiri Achu, traditional music such as Bikutsi, Makossa, njang, mangambeu and others, fashion display of fabrics with toghu, ndop and culinary specialties like eru, koki, okok, soya and much more. All, showcasing a dynamic portrait of Cameroon’s diversity and contributing to one national story.
